Every work is divine if performed without attachment and with full of devotion towards almighty. Ashram offers daily service to Mahakaleswar and Ma Narmada with purest way possible. Significant tithis or dates were observed year round with full hearted participation of villagers.
- Narmada Jayanti: On Basanta Saptami Birthday celebration of Goddess Narmada were celebrated at her birthplace, Amarkantak Madhya Pradesh. In connection to this Narmada Ashram observes the day with great enthusiasm and vibrancy at our Ashram and headquarter at Jadavpur.
- Mahashivratri: ‘The Great Night of Shiva’ is a night of special spiritual significance, observed like many other parts of India. The festival celebrated on the fourteenth day Krishna paksha of Phalgun or Magh month as a commemoration of wedding of Lord Shiva and mata Pārbati. The brata symbolizes ‘overcoming darkness and ignorance’ through fasting, offering puja by bathing of Lord Shiva at four praharas with four different kind of bathing ingredients. Since at the Moukhali Ashram, Lord Shiva manifests his Mahakaleswar look, a special bhasmarati is performed before him in early-morning followed by the Mahashivaratri, somewhat similar to Ujjain’s Mahakaleswar temple.
- Neel Shasthi: ‘Neel Shasthi’ is the day in the Bengali month of Chaitra when Bengalis celebrate the marriage of Lord Shiva with Devi Parvati by offering puja to the Lord. This puja is performed by the married women to seek the blessings of the Lord Shiva and Parvati for near and dear ones. According to certain beliefs the word ‘Neel’ is derived from ‘Neelkantha’, which means a person with a blue colored throat, which actually indicates Lord Shiva.
- Shraban puja of Baba Mahakaleswar: Shraban, the fourth Hindu month of the lunar calendar, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devotees from all over India reach out nearest Shiva temple to worship with minimal offerings and keep fasting until they pour Ganga jal and milk to baba. Moukhali, being the remote village of Sundarbans is a settlement of devoted people whom take part in every religious festival and live in peace and harmony. The Ashram becomes the place to visit in Shraban Mondays when long queues of villagers of every age to offer their puja to Baba Mahakaleswar and pray for prosperity and peace.
